Portal Review
This level is impossible, GlaDoS, the omnipotent voice, says. Make no attempt to solve it. Just your average day in Aperture Labs. From the first level, where a voice politely tells you that the toilet WILL, in fact, take your crap, to the last, a puzzle packed, suprise filled boss fight, Portal supplies fun behind every one of the titular inter-dimensional gates. The story: You wake up from stasis in a glass case with no memories of your life before. An AI puts you through a couple tests, and then tries to throw you into an incinerator. you survive, and decide you need to blow her up. (Plotline: 4/5) Once you get past the bizarre plot, we come to the gameplay. I would describe the game as a FPP (First Person Puzzler). The Portal gun is the Best Gun Ever. It can shoot two corresponding portals. If you shoot two portals, you can drop objects or walk into one and come out the other. This can be used to drop objects on turrets, get to otherwise unreachable places, and put Turrets in those otherwise unreachable places. Its like a 3d platformer with teleportation! (Gameplay: 5/5) Now we come to the behind-the-scenes things: Graphics, Physics (graphics+physics= Engine), and Details. The graphics and physics come from their home built engine, the Source Engine. That engine has powered games like Half Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. Trust me. the graphics and physics are amazing. Valve doesn’t disappoint. (Engine: 5/5) As for the details, they are GREAT! From the toilet telling you it will take your crap to the frosted windows in some of the test chambers, they will make you wonder how long it took to put them in. Its all about the details. (Details: 5/5)
TOTAL: 19/20

I love this book, and i have had it most of my life. It’s wonderful, but it is the revised version of an older book. The largest change is the addition of a whole new chapter, about computers (They use windows. My efforts aren’t working). It’s a wonderful chapter, but apparently it called for a new cover. The words “The New” are completely different, but i didn’t know what the original cover was like until a month or so ago. Now, look at the cover of the New Version. See the “W” in “way”? Well, the cover designers might think the most important part is for the text to be readable, but this whole time i just wondered, “What the hell is the W?!?!” Like i said, about a month ago, i had a chance to gaze upon the wonderful, original book. I noticed the the W. It was projecting the H into the middle of T and E. And i was happy. Unspeakably happy. i had found out what it was. I had found out the way the W works. Any similar experiences?

I accidently dropped a ball down a hill today and everyone started cheering for the ball to hit the tire and stop, or a trashcan. i decided to do it again. one of the people stopped me the second time, so i went back up to the top and did it again. in short, i had a blast.
